ChatStyle connects to streaming platforms only for features you use. This page explains each permission in plain English.

Twitch

ChatStyle uses Twitch permissions to verify viewer roles, protect streamer-controlled skin access, and keep your account connected to the right Twitch identity.

Important: ChatStyle can only look up this information. It cannot change your Twitch settings, channel, roles, bans, subscriptions, or anything else on Twitch.

Viewer permissions

Viewers grant these permissions when they connect their Twitch account.

Permission Why we need it
user:read:email
View a user's email address.
Used to keep your ChatStyle account connected to the correct Twitch identity and send important account messages.
user:read:follows
View the list of channels a user follows.
Used to show streamers you follow and enable follower-only skins.
user:read:subscriptions
View if an authorized user is subscribed to specific channels.
Used for subscriber role and subscription tier checks when you use subscriber-only skins.

Streamer permissions

Streamers grant the viewer permissions above plus channel permissions needed to control role-based access and billing.

moderation:read
View a channel's moderation data including Moderators, Bans, Timeouts, and Automod settings.
Used to verify moderator roles for moderator-only skins in your channel.
channel:read:vips
Read the list of VIPs in your channel.
Used to verify VIP roles for VIP-only skins in your channel.
channel:read:subscriptions
View a list of all subscribers to a channel and check if a user is subscribed to a channel.
Used to verify subscriber access in your channel and retrieve your subscriber count for streamer subscription pricing.
